Klaas Jan Kramer, Ph.D. is a Visiting Researcher in the Energy Analysis Department at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL). His research areas at LBNL include life-cycle assessment of products, industrial energy efficiency analysis, direct and indirect energy use of households, modeling of industrial energy use and greenhouse gas emissions.  He also works with the U.S. EPA’s ENERGY STAR for Industry program, researching energy efficiency guides for plant managers in the pulp and paper sector.

Prior to joining LBNL, Klaas Jan was a senior researcher at the Agricultural Economic Research Institute (LEI) in The Hague (the Netherlands), part of the Wageningen University. At LEI he mainly performed research in the areas of energy and greenhouse gas emission analysis and sustainability analyses in agricultural sectors. He holds a Ph.D. in Mathematics and Physics from the University of Groningen, the Netherlands, with a specialization in energy use and greenhouse gas emisisons related to household food consumption and  a M.Sc. in Chemistry from the University of Groningen.
